Mini-project

 With several long-term projects completed,
I decided to take it easy with a mini-project this morning…

When I was at the farm store this week, I got a pint of raw cream along with my raw milk for cheese-making (havarti this week).

When I got home, I saw that I had barely used the cream the I had purchased two weeks ago!  So the old cream becomes butter, and the new cream becomes…?

It’s a project many kids do at school or scouts—shake a jar of cream until it clumps into butter.

Only it does take a LOT of shaking!

Eventually we got there!

Butter left, buttermilk right

On the far right, cloudy water from rinsing the butter

Squeezing the remaining rinse water through “butter muslin”

Come, butter, come!

Come, butter, come!

Peter’s at the garden gate, waiting for his butter cake—

Come, butter, come!
