Exploring Greenbelt, Maryland
Established in 1937, Eleanor Roosevelt’s planned community vision in Greenbelt is still thriving today! I visited some family members who are delighted to be a part of this cooperative community.
The place is also a Mecca for art deco enthusiasts, too! The community center was originally the town elementary school and features these amazing limestone sculptures.
We had a tasty lunch at the New Deal Café—
the Roosevelt influence remains strong!
You can also see the art deco influence in the rows of
townhomes, apartments, and semi-detached homes.
Shout out to my grand niece who created a Little Free Library with a friend for a Girl Scout award project! They did a fantastic job. It is perfectly placed next to a playground adjacent to the community center.
