One thing I never had to think much about while living in the New Jersey suburbs was SEPTIC TANKS....

I spent some of Monday trying to help a nice fellow from a septic tank pumping service locate the septic tank here at dad's house--with no luck.

We called in reinforcements from a local home inspection outfit, and they came out today, ready for anything.  But, it turned out that the cute little digger was not necessary,
so it stayed on the truck.
The fellow did use a cool camera-on-a-cable device to pinpoint the exact location, and then used brute force to uncover the hidden treasure.

I looked at the nice square hole he dug and told him he could get a job
as an archaeologist with those nice straight profile walls!

He tried to loosen the old-style concrete tank lid...and he did--
but it cracked and ended up inside the tank!

Then we finished off the fun by pumping 4+ years of septic waste out of the tank.

I don't think we will have trouble locating the tank again,
now that a big green riser cap is installed!
